Also known as Lime Blossoms and Tilia. The fragrant, yellowish flowers have been used since the Middle Ages to promote perspiration and for nervous conditions. Native Americans used linden for colds, fevers and nervous headaches - much the same purposes as modern herbalists do today. Useful with colds, cough, fever, infections, high blood pressure, and headache, and as a diuretic, antispasmodic, and sedative. Nervine, anti-spasmodic, hypotensive, diaphoretic, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, emmenagogue, astringent.
Lobelia Herb

Also known as Lobella, Asthma Weed, Indian Pink, Indian Tobacco, Pukeweed and Vomit Weed. A sedative, expectorant, diaphoretic, anti-asthmatic. Used for asthma, colds, coughs, and bronchitis and as an expectorant to thin out the mucous or help lower a fever. Lobelia is also an effective sedative and used for allergies and headaches. Externally, it has been found useful in ophthalmia, and a local application for insect bites, sprains, bruises, or skin diseases. It is sometimes given in convulsive and inflammatory disorders such as epilepsy, tetanus, diphtheria and tonsilitis. It may be used as an enema. Expectorant, diaphoretic, anti-asthmatic.

Also known as Gojii berries or Wolfberry. Records show the Lycii Berries have been used in Chinese herbal medicine and for culinary purposes since 100 A.D. It is thought by some to affect the blood, liver, kidneys, and lungs acting as a nutrient tonic with helpful antipyretic and alterative properties. The Lycium Berry has an exceptionally dense concentration of complex carbohydrates which may act to bolster the body's ability to fight off diseases through activating the proteins in the immune system. Its antioxidant carotenoids and flavonoids protect from free-radical damage. Carotenoids, especially beta carotene, a vitamin A precursor, also are shown to improve vision.

It is a powerful medicine exercising an influence on every part of the system, stimulating the glands to healthy action. Its most beneficial action is obtained by the use of small doses frequently given. In such circumstances, it acts admirably upon all the secretions, removing obstructions, and producing a healthy condition of all the organs in the system. In still smaller doses, it is a valuable remedy in skin diseases.

Also known as Marian, St. Mary's, and Our Lady's thistle. Milk thistle is a good treatment for liver problems. A compound called silmarin is responsible for the effect that milk thistle has on the liver. In addition to the help it can give the liver, some research is now being done that shows milk thistle may also fight cancer such as breast, prostate, and cervical cancers. The evidence is not conclusive at this time, but it may be that milk thistle can help to fight these diseases. In addition, milk thistle is also shown to lower cholesterol, but it’s not known how at this time. The medicinal use of milk thistle goes back two thousand years. Medieval herbalists also made use of this, and in the sixteenth century English herbalists adopted it.
