Also known as Jamaica, Roselle & Karkade. Aids digestion, stimulates appetite, reduces blood pressure and cholesterol. High in vitamin C, it is believed to have antibacterial properties that may be very helpful in treating feverish illnesses, cystitis and venereal disease. Eases hacking coughs and other respiratory ailments, relieve menstrual cramps and relax spasms and general cramping. Regular consumption of hibiscus teas often lowers blood pressure. Hibiscus also contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA, or hydroxycut) used in many diet formulas, and other obesity fighting chemicals such as chromium and ascobic acid. Sweeten with honey or enjoy the color & spectacle on its own. Used in the making of Rose Hip Tea.

S. African herb similar to, but a little sweeter than, Rooibos in appearance & taste. It is a naturally mellow and sweet tea that is high in antioxidants and contains nutrients like Vitamin C, potassium and calcium. Consumed for centuries by the indigenous people, this calming herb reputedly increases appetite. The flowers in bloom give off a pleasant honey perfume ~ hence the name. It is caffeine free and delicious when served both hot and cold.

Horsetail is also known as scouring rush, shavegrass, bottlebrush or pewter wort. Our horsetail consists of the sterile, aerial parts harvested in the summer months between June and August. Diuretic and astringent. Horsetail has been found beneficial in dropsy, gravel and kidney affections generally. Besides being useful in kidney and bladder trouble, a strong decoction acts as an emmenagogue; being cooling and astringent, it is of efficacy for haemorrhage, cystic ulceration and ulcers in the urinary passages. The decoction applied externally will stop the bleeding of wounds and quickly heal them, and will also reduce the swelling of eyelids. CAUTION: Equisetum arvense should not be used by persons with cardiac or renal dysfunction. Not recommended for long-term use or use by children. Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Epimedium sagittatum
Behind the funny name of horney goat weed stands a time-tested aphrodisiac that increases libido in men and women, and improves erectile function in men. It holds an important place in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is gaining popularity around the world. Used by practitioners for over 2,000 years, horney goat weed is several species of epimedium, a leafy plant which grows in the wild, most abundantly at higher altitudes. The leaves of the plant contain a variety of flavonoids, polysaccharides, sterols and an alkaloid called magnaflorine. And while the exact way that horney goat weed works reminds unknown, the plant has long been employed to restore sexual fire, boost erectile function, allay fatigue and alleviate menopausal discomfort

Used especially for kidney, bladder and gallbladder complaints. It reportedly acts as a diuretic and helps to rid the body of waste products, including uric acid. For that reason, many people use it for gout (which is related to a build-up of uric acid). It imparts a violet odor to the urine, and large doses may cause irritation to the passages. In France the berries have been used in chest complaints and in leucorrhoea, blenorrhoea, scrofula, etc. In very small doses, you can also use juniper berry to stimulate your appetite. This is good for someone who’s fighting an illness that’s causing loss of appetite.

Also known as kawa, kavain, intoxicating long pepper and tonga. Kava root has been found valuable in the treatment of gonorrhea both acute and chronic, vaginitis, leucorrhoea, nocturnal incontinence and other ailments of the genitourinary tract. Being a local anesthetic it relieves pain and has an aphrodisiac effect; it has also an antiseptic effect on the urine. The effect on the nerve centers is at first stimulating, then depressing, ending with paralysis of the respiratory center. As Kava is a strong diuretic it is useful for gout, rheumatism, bronchial and other ailments, resulting from heart trouble.

The Hindu name for holy basil, Tulsi, means "the incomparable one." Holy basil is used in Ayurvedic medicine as an “adaptogen” to counter life’s stresses. It is considered a sacred plant by the Hindus and is often planted around Hindu shrines. Holy basil is used for the common cold, influenza , H1N1 flu, diabetes, asthma, bronchitis, earache, headache, stomach upset, heart disease, fever, viral hepatitis, malaria, stress, cholesterol and tuberculosis. It is also used for mercury poisoning, to promote longevity, as a mosquito repellent, and to counteract snake and scorpion bites. Holy basil is applied to the skin for ringworm. In cooking, holy basil is often added to stir-fry dishes and spicy soups because of its peppery taste. Cookbooks sometimes call it "hot basil."

Goldenseal leaf was used by Iroquois and Algonquin-speaking Indians of present-day Ontario, Quebec, New York and New England as one of their primary medicinal herbs. Traditionally, goldenseal leaf was used in the treatment of digestive disorders and as a laxative. Dried goldenseal leaf was ground into a powder and utilized as a treatment for indigestion as well as nausea and vomiting. Also used in treatment for irritations and inflammation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory, digestive, and urinary tracts. It was commonly used topically for skin and eye infections. Because of its antimicrobial activity, goldenseal has a long history of use for infectious diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infections, and vaginal infections. It is often recommended in combination with echinacea for the treatment of colds and flu.

Also known as Indian Pennywort and Hydrocotyle. Well known for it’s part in the support for healthy memory function, the most common use for gotu kola is the treatment of skin problems by relieving pain and inflammation from burns, ulcers, and any type of healing wound. It also works to help prevent scar tissue from forming. It has been used to treat all kinds of skin conditions from leprosy to eczema. One untraditional use for gotu kola is to reduce anxiety. It can also be used to help people sleep better at night. It also helps to reduce blood pressure in people who take it. People with scleroderma who take gotu kola have reductions in the hardening of skin and organs, more joint movement, and less joint pain. It assists making blood vessels more elastic and helping them to do their job properly. Also used as a fertility enhancer
