Steamed Darjeeling
Origin: Darjeeling.

Another beautiful offering from the famed Makaibari Estate; this green is, without doubt, Darjeeling finery. Enjoy the light, crisp, grassy
notes & clarity of this cup

Makaibari is an aesthete's delight, a visual oasis sandwiched between dusty cities in the plains and the now deflowered tourist fable,
Cradled in the lap of the Himalayas, the mystical land of the ancient seers and saints, where the Vedas were created, Located at between
3000 and 4000 meters above sea level, it is at the perfect altitude for tea growing. The entire farmland Stretches over 673 hectares, the tea is
ensconced within, occupying 250 hectares. Within the woods, various species of insects, butterflies, birds and animals flourish

Makaibari (literally "Maize Land") is in Kurseong, the Land of the White Orchid, in Darjeeling. In 1859, this magical land saw the
development of the now fabled tea estate. It went on to become the best tea garden in the world.

Darjeeling, or Dorjee Ling, as the original Tibetan name went. The irradiant sunshine, the fragrance and the natural music of rustling
leaves, singing birds and mooing cows, last only within the confines of Makaibari. And the white orchid has all but vanished from Kurseong,
but can be found in Makaibari. Strange but true.

Unlike the neighboring tea estates, where clear cutting and mono-cropping is the status quo, the Makaibari estate maintains 66% of its
acreage as undisturbed rainforest. The forests support the natural ecosystem and the wildlife that depend on it and is taken care of by
rangers native to the soil, a perfect example of people's management of forests, one of the gardens unique features. Complete holistic
practice of biodynamics and Permaculture at the highest level; with its hundreds of birds, floral diversity, wildlife sanctum and a unique
Stone House - the oldest in Darjeeling, complete with a biodynamic vegetable and herbs garden - Makaibari Tea Estates is one of the most
enticing destinations for the genuine ecotourist.
